Salt Sugar Fat - How The Giants Hooked Us by Michael Moss

A well written look at how profit and marketing and big business have processed our food and changed the way we eat. From Coke to cheese to breakfast cereals, we have been subjected to scientifically engineered foods that have passed taste, convenience and preference tests. Just not necessarily nutrition tests.

The Power of Now by Ekhardt Tolle

A powerful book – probably not for everyone but if you are on the same wavelength as this transplanted German living in Vancouver, you will be blown away by this book. Oprah “got it” and was instrumental in birthing Ekhardts’ ideas into modern day life. This book could seriously change your life for the (way) better!

Good Calories Bad Calories by Gary Taubes

This 2008 tome is almost a textbook – it is so dense. Written by a well-educated (Harvard and Stanford for applied physics and aerospace engineering) journalist (Columbia University Masters in journalism). Gary Taubes has really blown open the science (or lack thereof) in the nutrition and obesity world. Why We Get Fat is a more recent book (2011) that Mr. Taubes has written that is a little lighter reading but it still has all the information you need to start questioning the nutritional advice of the last 5 decades.
