What is a Vision Board?

What do I really WANT?

How did I end up HERE? WHERE am I going?

VisionBoard DEFINED:

As you explore what you want in your life and where you want to go:

Visualize your answers and then, as if they are reality, capture the emotions you would feel in pictures and words.

VB’ s help identify your values and goals and they give your day-to-day life clarity. They help you pay attention to your intentions. VB’s help keep you pointed in the direction you want to go.

Tony Robbins, the motivational life coach, says that most of us tend to overestimate what we can do in a day (do you have a To Do list that is longer than your arm?) but, at the same time we tend to totally underestimate what we can do in  a year, or 5 years, or 10 years. This leaves us overwhelmed and overworked today and surprised and disappointed  at the end of the year or at the end of a decade, wondering "How did I end up here?" And, "Where did all the time go?"

VisionBoards help to focus your attention, and they also help keep you on track. Where do you want to be in one year? In 5 years? If you don't ask and explore the answers to these kinds of questions then you will end up somewhere....... by default.

A VB can represent an upcoming event in your life (think wedding or sabbatical, for example) or simply the future ( the upcoming year or 5 years or 10). They can be used to help clarify how or where you want a specific aspect of your life (a relationship or a career, for example) to go.

The process typically begins by tuning in and exploring where you want to develop some clarity in your life. It may help to break things down into categories such as:

MY PHYSICAL SELF – RELATIONSHIPS/ FAMILY – LEARNING/ASPIRATIONS – CAREER – ETC

And then, ASK YOURSELF: ‘WHAT DO I REALLY WANT?’

....... goals, ideas or dreams may come up. Notice them. ..and then armed with a pair of scissors, a pile of magazines and an open mind begin to create your Vision Board.

Is this the Path I thought I was going to be on? Is it where I want to be?
